Important parts of the core reading workflow can run on your device.
Reader is designed for work that may include sensitive personal, academic, or professional material. For that reason, some core reading operations run on-device where possible, although some features may require additional processing.
General approach In ordinary use, document text, notes, and reading-session content are processed only when needed for the relevant feature or service.
Cloud and AI features
Some Reader features may use cloud or AI services.
When you use an optional Reader feature that depends on cloud or AI support, the minimum necessary content or request context may be sent to the service that provides that feature.

Billing, account, and support data
We process the data needed for subscriptions and support.
If you start a trial or buy Pro, payment and subscription systems may process contact details, purchase status, renewal status, receipts, and support history. This data is used to manage access, handle billing, and resolve issues.
