Reader is local-first by default. Optional AI assistance may send selected text, recent reading context, and request metadata to Syllara’s AI service when you explicitly use AI features. Reader is a reading workspace first, not an AI document generator or rewrite tool.
How it works
Optional AI assistance only runs when you choose it
When you click or invoke an AI feature, Reader may send selected text, recent reading context, and request metadata to Syllara’s AI service so that feature can work. We may also keep limited metadata and status information to keep the service reliable and to protect against abuse.
What it is for
Use it for understanding, not production
Reader AI assistance can help with summaries, explanations, selected-passage understanding, and clearer next steps.

What it is not for
It is not designed to generate replacement documents
Reader AI assistance is not designed to create complete replacement documents, rewrite copyrighted works for republication, remove attribution, or produce exportable derivative documents.
Your content responsibilities
Only use content you have the right to process
You are responsible for the material you send to Reader and for making sure your use respects law, agreements, and source permissions.
Sensitive content
Be careful with sensitive or regulated material
Do not submit highly sensitive, confidential, illegal, or regulated content unless you understand and accept the processing implications.
AI limitations
AI can support reading, but it can be wrong
Reader AI assistance may be incomplete, inaccurate, or unsuitable for professional decisions. It does not replace your own judgment and is not medical, legal, financial, or accessibility-treatment advice.
Safety and abuse prevention
Safety systems may block or limit requests
Syllara may block, slow, or limit requests that look unsafe, abusive, or outside the intended use of the feature.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Reader changes
If the product or feature changes, we may update this page and its effective date so the guidance stays current.
